Vaser Liposuction

What Is Vaser Liposuction?

Vaser liposuction is an advanced form of ultrasonic liposuction procedure. The term Vaser stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy Resonance. It refers to the device used to perform the procedure.

Vaser works by eliminating small deposits of fat selectively from around certain muscle groups. This selective removal results in a more defined shape by highlighting the natural muscle contour.

The process requires a small ultrasound probe to be placed under the skin to dissolve the fatty layer of tissue before it is removed. The ultrasound also stimulates collagen production – which allows the skin to appear tighter and smoother following the procedure.

There are two types of Vaser liposuction procedures:

  • Standard Vaser liposuction: This procedure removes excess fat and contours the area to achieve a smooth result. An ultrasound probe is inserted under the skin to separate and remove the fatty tissue.
  • High Definition Vaser liposuction: This liposuction procedure is more advanced in that it focuses on muscle anatomy to give you a more chiselled body shape. An athletic body shape is created by sculpturing the body into four dimensions.

This is a popular procedurethat’s suitable for both men and women across a range of ages. Vaser Liposuction can be used to remove excess fat and contour almost every part of the body to give the desired area more definition. Liposuction can be done on all of these areas:

  • Abdomen and flanks (love handles)
  • Thigh liposuction to remove extra fat from the inner and outer thighs and front of thighs
  • Knee liposuction
  • Face liposuction to contour
  • Chin liposuction to create a more defined jaw and chin profile
  • Neck liposuction to create a firm, smooth neckline
  • Arms
  • Back
  • Breasts
  • Buttocks

The process requires a small ultrasound probe to be placed under the skin to dissolve the fatty layer of tissue before it is removed. The ultrasound also stimulates collagen production – which allows the skin to appear tighter and smoother following the procedure.

Vaser Liposuction is a relatively comfortable procedure. It is performed under twilight sedation. This helps to ease any potential discomfort during the liposuction procedure without the need of a general anaesthetic. The Vaser Lipo technique allows for smaller incision points and reduced levels of bruising.

If you prefer to be given a general anaesthetic make sure to speak to your practitioner about your reservations so you can understand your alternatives.

You can expect 3-5 days of mild discomfort after the procedure as the body heals. You will also be advised to also wear a compression garment for 6-8 weeks after the procedure to assist with the healing process.

The first step, before undergoing Vaser Liposuction, is to discuss your medical history and medications with your doctor.

These pre-op steps will help accelerate your recovery after the liposuction surgery:

  • Stop taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory tablets (including vitamins and herbal remedies such as fish oil, Vitamin E or Gingko), and blood thinners. These medications can increase the risk of bleeding and other issues. Seek advice from your general practitioner before stopping any medications.
  • Stop smoking at least 2 weeks before (and after) the procedure.
  • Do not drink excessive amounts of alcohol for about 2 weeks leading up to the procedure.
  • Drink lots of water in the week leading up to your procedure. This helps keep the skin cells hydrated.
  • Purchase chlorhexidine wash from your chemist. This helps minimise common skin pathogens that could potentially cause infection post-operatively. Begin using the wash on your entire body 4 days before and every day leading up to the procedure. Use it as an undiluted liquid soap.

Liposuction surgery is a pretty straightforward procedure.

On the day of the procedure, the practitioner will give you twilight sedation and a numbing solution under the skin at the points of incision.

Small incisions are then made and a small ultrasound probe is placed under the skin through the incisions to the treatment area. The ultrasound helps to dissolve the fatty layer before it is removed through a cannula. A tumescent fluid is also used, which sedates the treatment area, breaking the fat down further. Vaser liposuction converts the fatty layer into a soft material with the consistency of butter, which allows it to be gently suctioned out.

The use of ultrasound also stimulates the production of collagen, which revitalizes the dermal cells so skin appearstauter, smoother, and younger following the procedure.

While any procedure comes with some risk, Vaser Liposuction seeks to lower or minimise potential issues via its use of tumescent fluid during the procedure.

Incision points are also kept to a minimum so that a patient can expect a short recovery time. There is risk of bruising and scarring as incisions are an essential part of the liposuction procedure. Incision points with Vaser Liposuction are smaller than those experienced during other lipo techniques, and therefore less scarring is likely to occur. Incision points are also strategically planned as to further lessen any visual impact.

Immediately after the procedure, it is most important that you rest completely for a minimum of 12 hours and avoid strenuous activity for a few days after. Patients can expect some light bruising and should wear compression garments for 3-6 weeks to assist in the healing process. Mild discomfort may be experienced for 2-5 days post-procedure.

If you have any concerns about the risks involved, book a consultation with us and we can discuss every aspect of the procedure and address any questions you may have.

Generally, you will see results after 6 weeks, although many begin to see results immediately after the procedure.

Results will continue to appear up to three months after the procedure. Vaser Lipo results are long lasting if you follow a healthy lifestyle.

Vaser Liposuction targets specific anatomical areas using superficial and transitioning liposculpture techniques. This allows the practitioner to create a more natural, muscular appearance on the body. The technique targets small fat deposits in specific areas, resulting in muscle contours that are more defined while looking completely natural. After the procedure, you will appear more toned and well-defined.

Beyond the improved visual results, there are other benefits that make the Vaser Liposuction procedure more appealing to patients as compared to other procedures performed to remove fat. These include:

  • A numbing of the treatment area, allowing you to avoid (in most cases) general anaesthetic
  • Smaller incision points, resulting in minimal bruising and scarring
  • Reduced bleeding through the use of tumescent fluid
  • Preparing the Fat before the procedure allows for the removal of larger quantities
  • Overall less discomfort after treatment

There are a number of reasons why Vaser Liposuction is preferred over traditional liposuction including:

  • Extra Fat Removal: Vaser Liposuction removes more fat than traditional liposuction
  • Higher Level of Precision: You can achieve more precise body contouring with Vaser Liposuction
  • The Ultrasound Advantage: The gentle nature of the ultrasound promotes faster healing and recovery times. It also helps tighten of the skin to form smoother body contours post-surgery. You can get back to life faster!
  • Fat Quality: With Vaser Liposuction, the removed fat is maintained at a high enough quality to be used in another procedure that you may wish to get done, like a Brazilian butt lift.

Common FAQs

Liposuction cost for neck, knees and face start at $3,300, and for the rest of the body prices start at $4,000 however, your final investment will be determined after consultation with Dr Adam as every case is different.

Yes, Vaser Liposuction tightens the skin while at the same time as suctioning out the fat. This is because of the specialized technique used.

Although the Vaser liposuction procedure uses some of the techniques used in traditional liposuction, there is one significant difference. The Vaser procedure also uses a third-generation ultrasound. This ultrasound-assisted energy stimulates the production of collagen, which promotes and maximizes skin tightening after the excess fat is removed. This prevents the skin from sagging or dimpling and results in smoother contours.

Vaser is not meant for removing large amounts of fat in someone who is overweight. Most individuals who get this procedure done are fit and at their ideal weight. Their main reason for undergoing Vaser is to remove small amounts of stubborn fat in specific areas. The ultimate goal is to achieve a more contoured and athletic appearance. The amount of fat removed during this procedure is minimal as compared to other more extensive traditional liposuction surgeries.

The exact amount of time the procedure takes depends largely on the location of the treatment area as well as the amount of fat that needs to be removed. If the treatment needs to be given in a difficult to reach area, it can take longer. Also, the more areas you are looking to get sculpted and contoured, the longer the procedure will take.

The results of the procedure can be permanent but you will need to do your part. Staying committed to your pre-procedure diet and fitness routine is essential in order to prevent the fat deposits that were removed from returning. If you do this, you will be able to maintain the results permanently.

Your doctor may also ask you to schedule a follow-up appointment to make sure that the healing is proceeding as expected.

Sometimes, despite your best efforts, some stubborn fat refuses to disappear. This can be quite disappointing, especially if you’ve been set on achieving a certain physique. If this describes you, Vaser liposuction surgery can help by getting rid of that stubborn fat and contouring your muscles so you acquire the look that you’ve been working so hard towards but haven’t managed to achieve. Considering that you can maintain the results with a little effort makes it definitely worth it.

Vaser liposuction Sydney may be right for you if you:

  • Are in good physical shape and not overweight
  • Are in good overall health
  • Are only looking to remove small amounts of stubborn fat
  • Have good skin elasticity and muscle tone
  • Are not a smoker

It’s best to avoid liposuction if you have chronic health issues or take any type of medication that can increase the risk of excessive bleeding.

Disclaimer: Prior to considering any cosmetic surgery procedure, it is advised that you learn about the procedure from your cosmetic practitioner. When you visit the clinic, Dr Adam Najem will explain the procedure to you including the risks involved and the realistic results that could be obtained from the procedure.
