Dr. Adam Najem can rejuvenate your entire face and make your eyes appear more striking than ever with double eyelid surgery. This popular procedure is designed to create a more youthful, less-tired look.
Double eyelid surgery, otherwise known as Asian eyelid surgery, is a fairly common treatment for patients of Asian ancestry. As a large proportion of Asian individuals lack the natural double-eyelid fold, it has become a more desirable aesthetic feature for many.
This procedure is performed on the upper eyelid and creates a dynamic change in appearance, making the eyes look more open and less tired.
Patients will find that applying eyeliner and eye shadow becomes easier following double eyelid surgery.
Double eyelid surgery involves reshaping the patient’s upper eyelid, to create a natural crease. The amount of extra skin and fat beneath the upper eyelid will determine whether Dr. Adam Najem uses an incisional or non-incisional technique.
In the incisional procedure, a cut is made in the upper eyelid and excess skin / fat is removed. Non-incisional is simpler, with the skin of the upper eyelid stitched to the levator muscle beneath to make the skin fold whenever the eyes are opened.
Dr. Najem will assess your eyelids during your consultation and determine which technique is right for you. Factors such as your age, gender, and the thickness of your eyelid skin will all be taken into consideration.
Double eyelid surgery typically takes around an hour on average, though this does not include preparation time. This is a fairly simple procedure with minimal recovery time.
Generally, no overnight stay is required with double eyelid surgery.
After double eyelid surgery, swelling can persist for varying lengths of time, from a number of months to a year in rare cases. Stitches are usually removed within two and seven days.
The extent of swelling you experience will dictate how quickly the results of your surgery are visible. It’s recommended that you wear dark sunglasses outdoors for two weeks following surgery, to protect the eyes from any sun-related irritation.
You may notice that your eyes become tired more quickly in the first few weeks following the procedure. You should avoid strenuous activities for a period recommended by Dr. Najem, such as sports or heavy lifting.
Furthermore, activities that may cause the eyes to become drier than they should must be avoided. This includes watching television, staring at a computer screen or wearing contact lenses.
